1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the website to remember information between page visits and across sessions. Cookies can be “session cookies” (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent cookies” (remain on your device until they expire or you delete them).
In addition to traditional cookies, Irreva uses the following browser storage technologies under the same consent framework:
localStoragePersistent key-value storage that survives browser restarts. Irreva uses this as the primary store for consent preferences and tool personalisation.
sessionStorageTemporary storage that is cleared when the browser tab is closed. Used minimally for in-session state.
HTTP CookiesTraditional cookies set via HTTP response headers or document.cookie. Used as a fallback for consent storage and by third-party analytics and advertising services.
2. How We Set Cookies
Irreva sets cookies and browser storage only according to the categories you have consented to. The sequence is:
- When you first visit Irreva, a consent banner is displayed before any non-essential cookies are set.
- Google Consent Mode v2 initialises with all tracking signals set to denied by default — no analytics or advertising data is collected at this stage.
- If you click Accept All, all four categories are enabled and consent mode signals are updated to granted accordingly.
- If you click Reject Non-Essential, only essential cookies are permitted. All tracking remains denied.
- If you click Customize Preferences, you select which categories to enable individually. Only selected categories are activated.
- Your choice is stored in localStorage and as a cookie for up to 1 year.
- On every subsequent visit, your stored preferences are read and applied before any tags fire.
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They enable core features including remembering your consent choices, maintaining security, and ensuring pages render correctly. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while using the Service.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest and necessity for site operation (GDPR Art. 6.1.f). No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies.
| Cookie / Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| irreva_consent | Stores your cookie consent choices across all four categories | 1 year | First-party cookie |
| irreva_consent (localStorage) | Primary storage for consent preferences — used when cookies are blocked | Until cleared by user | First-party localStorage |
4. Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use Irreva. Data is anonymised and aggregated. We use this to identify popular tools, measure performance, and improve the platform. These cookies are disabled by default in all regions until you grant consent.
Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6.1.a). You may withdraw consent at any time.
Service provider: Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics 4). Data may be transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. Google Privacy Policy.
| Cookie / Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 — assigns a randomly generated identifier to distinguish users. Enables session tracking across visits. | 2 years | First-party cookie |
| _ga_[ID] | Google Analytics 4 — session container cookie that persists session state for a specific GA4 property. | 2 years | First-party cookie |
| _gid | Google Analytics — distinguishes users. Set on first visit, used for 24-hour session tracking. | 24 hours | First-party cookie |
5. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies remember your preferences and recently used tools to provide a more personalised experience. These are disabled by default and only activated with your consent. No personal data is transmitted to our servers.
Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6.1.a). You may withdraw consent at any time.
| Cookie / Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| irreva_recent_tools (localStorage) | Stores the list of recently used tools so they appear in your recent history without re-navigating. | 12 months | First-party localStorage |
| irreva_tool_prefs (localStorage) | Stores per-tool UI preferences such as compression quality, output format, or display options. | 12 months | First-party localStorage |
6. Advertising Cookies
Advertising cookies are used to serve relevant advertisements, measure ad campaign performance, and support affiliate link tracking. These are always disabled by default and will not be activated until advertising is introduced on the platform and you explicitly grant consent.
Current status: Not active. No advertising cookies are currently set. The table below lists cookies that will be used when advertising is enabled.
Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6.1.a). You will be asked for fresh consent before advertising is activated. You may withdraw at any time.
| Cookie / Key | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| __gads | Google AdSense — measures the performance of advertisements shown on the site and prevents the same ad from showing too frequently. | 13 months | Third-party cookie (Google) |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads conversion linker — links advertising click data with conversion events to measure campaign effectiveness. | 3 months | Third-party cookie (Google) |
| IDE | Google DoubleClick — used to build user profiles for interest-based advertising across the Google Display Network. | 13 months | Third-party cookie (Google) |
| [affiliate network] | Affiliate tracking — records that a user clicked an affiliate link so that any resulting purchase can be attributed to Irreva. Set by affiliate networks, not Irreva. | Varies by network (typically 30–90 days) | Third-party cookie (affiliate network) |
7. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set directly by third-party service providers and are subject to their own privacy policies:
| Provider | Category | Status | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) | Analytics | Active (consent-gated) | policies.google.com |
| Vercel Inc. (hosting infrastructure) | Essential | Active (infrastructure) | vercel.com |
| Google AdSense (Google Ireland Ltd.) | Advertising | Not yet active | policies.google.com |
| Affiliate network (TBD) | Advertising | Not yet active | Will be disclosed when active |
8. Google Consent Mode v2
Irreva implements Google Consent Mode v2, which allows Google's measurement infrastructure to respect your consent choices. Here is how it works:
| Signal | Default (no consent) | After analytics consent | After advertising consent |
|---|---|---|---|
| analytics_storage | denied | granted | unchanged |
| ad_storage | denied | unchanged | granted |
| ad_user_data | denied | unchanged | granted |
| ad_personalization | denied | unchanged | granted |
| functionality_storage | denied | unchanged | unchanged |
| personalization_storage | denied | unchanged | unchanged |
| security_storage | granted | granted | granted |
The Consent Mode v2 default script runs inline in the page <head>before any analytics or advertising tag loads, ensuring no data is collected without prior consent.
9. Managing and Withdrawing Consent
Option 1 — Irreva Preference Centre (Recommended)
The fastest and most precise way to manage cookies. Changes take effect immediately.
- Click the Manage Preferences button below
- The Cookie Preference Centre will open
- Use the sidebar to navigate between cookie categories
- Toggle each category on or off using the switches
- Click Save Preferences to apply your choices
- Your selection is saved for 1 year and applied on every subsequent visit
Option 2 — Browser Settings
You can block or delete cookies directly in your browser. Note that blocking all cookies may impair essential site functionality including consent preference storage.
- Chrome — Manage cookies and site data
- Firefox — Enhanced Tracking Protection
- Safari — Manage cookies and website data
- Edge — Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge
Option 3 — Opt Out of Google Analytics Specifically
Install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On to prevent GA4 from collecting data across all websites, regardless of the site's own consent settings.
Option 4 — Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising
When advertising is enabled, you can opt out of interest-based ads through:
- Google Ad Settings — control Google's interest-based advertising
- AboutAds.info — US Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out
- YourOnlineChoices.eu — European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out
- AdChoices.ca — Canadian opt-out portal
10. Impact of Refusing Cookies
Refusing non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using any of Irreva's tools. All file processing is browser-based and does not depend on analytics, functional, or advertising cookies. The impact of each refusal is:
We cannot measure tool usage or identify performance issues. Does not affect your ability to use the Service.
Your tool preferences and recently used tools list will not be remembered between sessions. You can still use all tools.
No targeted ads will be shown. When advertising is active, non-targeted ads (contextual only) may still appear.
11. Updates to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookies, change service providers, or enable advertising or affiliate tracking. For significant changes that require fresh consent — such as activating advertising — we will re-display the consent banner to all users. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
